I’ve had the router for a few days. I have access to both 2G and 5G on the LAN, but after creating Guest networks on both 2G and 5G, when my devices connect to the Guest networks, there is no internet access. I’ve set the Guests up the same way as the LAN SSID’s.

    Please advise.

Guest network should have Internet access by default. Have you checked the IP address, network mask and default gateway on the devices connected to the Guest network?

The IP address is different from all other devices on the non-Guest networks. For example, all other IP addresses start with 192, whereas the devices on the Guest network starts with 10. The Gateway also starts with 10, but DNS1 starts with 192, correctly, and DNS2 is 8.8.4.4.

In the router settings for the Guest network, the MAC Filter checkbox is checked (Use the same MAC filter for all bands), and MAC Address Filter is set to Disabled. Other Device Configuration settings are default.

I’m unsure how the Guest network does not use the same IP address prefixes as the other devices. Please advise.

I’ve rebooted the router, deleted both 2G and 5G Guest networks and added a completely new Guest 2G SSID. I still have no internet access with the newly added Guest network when I connect a device to the new Guest network. I am running pcWRT Newifi-D2 v2.4.5. I have only had the router for a few days.

That should not happen. Please send a screenshot of the output for “ipconfig /all” to [email protected] (if you are using Windows). Send an equivalent screenshot if you have a different device.

@bulldog We reproduced the problem you’re having. The problem will be fixed in the next update, coming in a couple of days. Thanks for your patience!

@bulldog Please upgrade to v2.4.6. Delete the guest network and re-create it.

Hi, after installing the most recent firmware update, ver. 2.4.6, on 10/6/21 I still have no internet access when using either Guest 2G or 5G networks. The firmware update did not fix the issue. Please advise.

@bulldog Did you delete the guest networks and recreate them? If yes, please send a copy of your backup file to [email protected].

@bulldog More specifically, delete all WiFi SSIDs for the Guest network, Save. If there are ports assigned to Guest, reassign them to LAN, Save. Then re-create the guest SSIDs and reassign the ports (if needed).
