    1) Different passwords. One for pcwrt, one for access control only. It’s really annoying that for normal things, just like rename a device or “port forwarding”, i have to send my children in an another room.

    2) Graphic Interface for to Allow/Block Ports. Or make a specific section as well.

    3) If i push the physical “reset” button behind the router, the access control is not resetted. In any moment my kids can push the reset button and all the protections have fallen.

    4) To separate Tor from VPN and Proxy. Choose to block VPN and Proxy, or only Tor.

    5) In the access control, insert other Anti-Porn DNS in the list.

    6) Option for to block the programs (.exe). Will be great, like a firewall software.

    7) I HAVE A DREAM A pcwrt modem/router combo! šŸ˜€

Can you do at least one of these?

It’s possible to implement at least one of these in a future updated firmware?

We should be able to address some of these.

For 2), our thinking is not to make a separate UI element for ports. We have a systematic way of processing Allowed and Blocked URLs. Allowing and blocking ports is just a special case of the whole theme. Please refer to our new blog posting to see how it works: https://www.pcwrt.com/2018/06/how-to-allow-or-block-web-sites-on-the-router/.

@casino Sorry for the late reply.

1). While an additional password can be added just for Access Control, the current device management password has privileges to do everything to the device, including wipe out all settings (i.e., reset the device). So this won’t help you in your scenario.

2). The router allows pretty complex rules to be defined. We think it’s more concise to use URL patterns to define the rules, rather than using additional UI.

3). We can put in some limitations to deal with this scenario. Stay tuned.

4). This can’t be done. The router can not reliably distinguish TOR from proxy.

5). We can add some additional selections.

6). This is not possible. The router only knows about Internet connections, it doesn’t know which program initiated the connections. For example, when a connection to Facebook is made, the router doesn’t know whether the connection came from a browser, the Facebook app or Facebook messenger.

7). This won’t happen in the near future.

As of v1.28.1, you can override the Reset button on the router so that it doesn’t restore to factory default. On the System Settings page, if you check both “Allow router password reset on login page” and “Override router Reset button”, the router will send a notification to your email instead of restoring to factory default.

But i have a question: What happen if i check only the option “Override router Reset button”?

@casino It is not allowed – it is required to check ā€œAllow router password reset on login pageā€ when you check ā€œOverride router Reset buttonā€. However, the former can be turned on alone.
