I have my new PCWRT router which has been working fine without a VPN. Today I decided to add one and I was following the instructions for setting up the VPN with the service I use on other devices. I downloaded and added all the profiles with the correct username and password. When I tried to play one of them I got an error and immediately neither my 2g nor 5g band would connect to the internet at all. I saw the server tab under the OpenVPN app and thought maybe I needed to intialize the server to get this all to work. Now I am not sure I should have done that I don’t know how to get the bands working again and connected to the internet. Thanks in advance for the help.

You don’t need to do anything with the Server tab.

On the OpenVPN Client tab, uncheck all boxes under the “Enable for Network” section, then click Save. Your Internet should be restored after this.

Next step is to debug the OpenVPN errors. Click on the “View Log” icon on the same row as the Play icon to see the connection logs.

Thanks so much for the quick response, working now. I assumed I needed to recheck the network under “Enable for Network” (LAN is the only one available for me at the moment) in order for the VPN to work which it now is. One more quick question as I am still learning….am I right that the only way to change from one VPN server to another (ie from New York to Paris) is to log onto the router and change it – Is there is no way to be able to switch from outside the router? Perhaps this is where the multiple networks is relevant which I am still not sure how to set up.

Suppose you configured two VPN connections using WireGuard, one to NYC another to Paris. You can only connect to one of them at a time. If you want to switch from NYC to Paris, then you need to log in and start the Paris connection, and the NYC connection will automatically stop.

However, you can have one active connection per VPN protocol. Thus you can have up to three VPN connections concurrently, each using a different protocol. And if you tie these connections to different VLANs, you can effectively switch from one to another by connecting to a different SSID.
