Power but no internet

I purchased the PW-AX1800 and for about a month it’s worked great. I had set up a few networks, one of which successfully used WireGuard client.

I woke up this morning and found the 2.4g light off and no internet. I power cycled and only the power light turned on, and as far as I can tell a wired ethernet connection doesn’t let me log in to the admin website. I don’t remember what firmware version it is.

I plugged in the previous router and it works, so it doesn’t seem to be ISP related.

Any tips or ideas? I can try resetting as a last resort, but curious if there’s other steps to troubleshoot first. Thank you.

You should be able to log in with a wired Ethernet connection, if your computer gets an IP address from the router. Can you see the IP address on your computer?

Thanks for the response. With ethernet connected, I see an entry when running ip address but there is no inet only link/ether. Does that sound right or is there another command I can try to see IP address?

@pinklock Try resetting the router. After that, you should see the WiFi LEDs light up and see both the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz WiFi SSIDs. You can restore your settings if you have a backup file at hand.

I referenced this article to reset: https://www.pcwrt.com/2024/04/how-to-reset-the-pcwrt-router/. The only recessed button I can find is labeled WPS Reset. I tried pressing it for 10+ and 30+ seconds to be sure. Still only the power light turns on.

@pinklock Did the router reboot after you release the button? Please send a video snippet to [email protected].

It didn’t appear to reboot. Video sent.

Well, in the time since making the video, I left the router alone and it now has 2.4g and 5g lights turned on. All my settings appear intact. WAN working too. Awesome. I guess I didn’t give it enough time to reboot on previous attempts.

    Thanks for your help.

    Glad it worked out.

Unfortunately, it stopped working again shortly after I posted that. The lights appeared to be frozen and my computers could not see any networks. I tried resetting again but after a while I gave up and needed to switch back to my old router.

    Any next steps?
