Temporarily shut down of SafeSearch

Many, many times, safesearch doesn’t work. If i’m looking google images, at a certain point, without any reason, i haven’t the protection of safesearch anymore.

Safesearch is temporarily off. After 20, 30 minutes, automatically, safesearch start to work again. Why this happen?

What are the causes of this strange behavior?

I’ve tested this only on Google Images. Maybe the problem is the dns cache?

It’s useful to disable “Client DNS” from Windows Services?

That should not happen. How do you know Safe Search was temporarily off and back on again?

Because on the right of the page that isn’t “Safe Search Active” anymore.

Infact for to prove this, i’ve searched terms like “sex” or “hot” and i had results. After 15, 20, 30 minutes safe search is active again.

I had this problem just 1 hour ago.

It’s like if Google SafeSearch had a “cycle”. For example, safesearch is active for 1 hour, then, for 10, 20 minutes is off, then it works again.

And i don’t know if this is a problem by Google or by pcwrt.

@casino You may try to see if the same happens on a different device. If the problem is in Google or the router, then you’ll see the same behavior on the second device at exactly the same time.

Another thing you may try is to run the command ‘nslookup www.google.com’ at the time when Safe search is on and off, and compare the results.

I’ve found where’s the problem. The problem appears in Incognito Mode only.

Look here:

1) Searching the word “hot” in Google Images and it shows explicit images.

2) SafeSearch inactive (I’ve circled it in red)

3) After 10, 15 minutes, SafeSearch is active again.

4) nslookup (it shows me “forcesafesearch.google.com” also when safesearch was disabled on “Incognito Mode”, at the same time.

There isn’t no problem in “Normal Mode”. Sometimes safesearch work again after 10 minutes, other times after 30 minutes. But is really simple to find oneself in this situation. This is a big problem.

As i said in an another thread, i have a old pc and i use Chrome in Incognito Mode only. Incognito Mode speed up the browsing session so much, it’s almost impossible to surf in internet in Normal Mode, it’s too slow.

I need to resolve this problem.

P.S. I have to test this problem on another device, and on another browser.

I tried with another browser, Firefox, and there is no problem, also with Incognito mode.

The problem is Chrome in Incognito Mode. My Chrome version is: 49.0.2623.112 (Windows XP SP3).

Today safesearch has been turned off for 2 hours!

Is a bug of pcwrt with Chrome?

I’m reading that there are many parental control software like K9 that show explicit images when the user use the Incognito Mode. Is this the same thing with pcwrt?

@casino Does the following summarize your findings?

1. Safe search is sometimes broken on Chrome on your PC, when Chrome is in Incognito mode. There seems to be a timer that turns safe search on and off.
2. Safe search works on the same PC for the same Chrome browser, when it is not in Incognito mode.
3. Safe search works on the same PC for another browser that is not Chrome, no matter it’s in Incognito mode or not.

If the above is true, then I’d suspect that your Chrome browser is running a plugin that behaves like a VPN or proxy to evade safe search.

Yes, they are all correct.

My Chrome has not any extension, ADBlock Plus and ADBlock for youtube only.

I seen that also with parental control software, there is this error; SafeSearch disappear into Incognito Mode (Chrome)

From what i’ve understood, there’s a basic problem with Chrome in Incognito Mode and parental control software or hardware like pcwrt.

Am i wrong?

Just RIGHT NOW YouTube SafeMode is completelly off. Ok, there’s a problem with Chrome Incognito Mode and pcwrt.

At the same time, Google Search amd Images are protected with SafeSearch, but YouTube SafeMode is off, at the same time.

Hour: 15:43 as you can see in the sreenshots. At the same time google filtered and youtube not.

@casino The router does not know if a browser is in incognito mode or not. Therefore, on the router, the behavior is the same either way.

The different behavior you saw originated from your browser. You may try the following to verify:

1. Disable all plugins for your Chrome and see if that keeps Safe Search in incognito mode.
2. On the router, enable “Block proxy, VPN, TOR”. You should always have safe search. Otherwise, Google & YouTube will be blocked.

I’ll try, but the plugins are not the problem. The plugins are active in normal mode and i have always safesearch on.

Block Proxy, VPN and TOR is eanbled too. Why pcwrt give me google and youtube on safemode in “normal mode” and not in Incognito Mode?

@casino Previously you reported that by enabling “Block Proxy, VPN and TOR”, you were sometimes blocked. Has that problem gone away? You didn’t have a safe search problem then, right?

I have all blocked. IP addresses, VPN, SafeSearch etc…. and my problem still exist.

Today i’ve tried with a browser called FlashPeak SlimJet (based on chrome) in Incognito Mode and i have the same problem. SafeSearch temporarily off.
