I have a big problem with the thumbnails. Example: Pinterest.

I have blocked its hosting image site: “i.pinimg.com”

Blocking it, i can’t see the image in full resolution (direct link), but i can see all the preview on google image. I see it in low resolution, the image is not loaded, but i can see thumbnails and preview in Google Image.

If i block a site, i wanna block its thumbnail and preview too, because, also if it’s in low resolutiom, i can see it completely.

    Can you help me?

@casino The thumbnails come from Google, even for Pinterest images. The Google domain name is something like encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com for thumbnails in search results. You can only rely on Google safe search to filter out offensive images.

So, it’s impossibile to solve my problem?

@casino The thumbnails will continue to show unless you block gstatic.com or its subdomains. But if you block, no thumbnails will display in your search results.

Theare images on google image that start with “data:image”. It’s an INFINITE link

    For example:

    “data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQAAAQABAAD/2wCEAAkGBxMTEhUTExMWFhUXGCAbGBgYGR8eIBsYGxgZHh8gHhobHSggGx4lGxsaITEhJSkrLi4uGCAzODMtNygtLisBCgoKDg0OGxAQGy8lICUtLS0tLS8vLS0tLS0tLS8tLy0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLS0tLf/AABEIALcBFAM

    etc… etc… etc….

    How can i block this?

@casino “data:image/jpeg;base64,…” is embedded image, it’s part of the page, not a link. You can’t block them unless you block the page.

If i use some block site extension, like “Simple Blocker” on Google Chrome and i insert in the blocked URL “data:image” it works. It won’t show me those images.

If i insert data:image in pcwrt it doesn’t work. Why?

It’s like if pcwrt doens’t “see” this command.

    Second Question:

I’ve blocked explicit.bing.net as written in your blog and also mm.bing.net for blocking the thumbnails.

The thumbnails are not blocked. After i’ve blocked “mm.bing.net”, now, when i click on some images, the address is transformed. Now the address is only “bing.com”

    Example:

    Blocking “mm.bing.net”: “http://www.bing.com/th?id=OIP.bCsDEvvHNhKbHtjTWLP9VAHaE6&w=300&h=198&c=7&o=5&pid=1.7”

    Without blocking “mm.bing.net” “http://tse4.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.bCsDEvvHNhKbHtjTWLP9VAHaE6&w=300&h=198&c=7&o=5&pid=1.7”

    It’s always the same image.

It was easy block Google thumbnails just blocking “gstatic.com” but now, with bing, really i don’t know what i have to do.

@casino Embedded images (i.e., those with “data:image”) cannot be blocked by the router. Browser plugins can hide these.

Images from the same domain as the page itself cannot be blocked. If you block the domain, the main page will be blocked too.

Sorry but i didn’t understand your reply. Why the bing image address is transformed after blocking “mm.bing.net” ?

Can i block these thumbnails as i did with google?

The Bing thumbnails cannot be blocked on the router because they come from the same domain as the main page. The links to the thumbnails were created when the page was generated on the Bing server, which determines which domain to use for thumbnails.
