Wireguard server – Handshake did not complete after 5 seconds

Hi there,

I am testing the Wireguard connection using the Android app following the instructions on this page: https://www.pcwrt.com/2021/01/the-complete-guide-to-setting-up-a-wireguard-vpn-server-at-home-with-pcwrt/

I scanned the QR code from router onto App, turned off phone WiFi (on mobile data), cannot load router page from phone. Looking at app logs, it is not able to get handshake with server.

I have a public IP and turned on router DDNS.
I tried to restart Wireguard server & reset token & recreate peer, still cannot connect. I also tried to connect from Desktop same result.

How is the pcWRT router connected? Is it directly connected to the Internet or behind another router?

pcWRT router is connected to my modem router that is connected to Internet

You might need to set up port forwarding on the modem/router. Or you can put the pcWRT in the DMZ of the modem/router.
