I’m in the middle of moving all my traffic to my PCWRT router. As a test, I’ve plugged the WAN port of my PCWRT router to the LAN port of my existing router. This should act as it’s own network. I have successfully established Wifi connections and VLANS using this approach. But,…. when I plug in a device to the Ethernet (e.g., 1), I get assigned an IP address from what appears to be my old router’s network. I’m not sure I can disable DHCP on my old router.

Your WiFi connected devices are getting the correct IP addresses? If you disconnect the Ethernet cable to your computer and reconnect, do you still get an IP address from your old router?

WiFi connected devices are getting the correct IP addresses. If I disconnect and reconnect the cable, I still get an IP address from the old router. In fact, the inteface on my my mac shows the router as being my old router’s ip.

It appears that ports 2&3 (if they are labeled correctly) work just fine. Could be that port 1 is just broken or I have things misconfigured.

Looking at the back of the router, the WAN port is the right most port. Port 1 is the port right next to it.

If you disconnect the WAN port, but plug in your MAC to port 1, you should get an IP address from the router (even though you won’t have Internet). But then it is be impossible for your MAC to get an IP address from the old router.
