I’m unable to check for updates for new firmware and I believe it is because my router is so old and hasn’t been used in over 4 years but I’d like to use it as a bridge and bring up to the latest firmware. Is there a method to determine what router I have so I can confirm the correct manual update of firmware? I can ssh into the router if there is a config file there?

so i don’t use the toronto as an AP – just as a router? couldn’t i just bridge to another AP using the lan port? what if i bought the cheaper $50 pcwrt AP?

Did this issue get resolved? I have Toronto and looking to extend WiFi network to outside and looking for a solution to build more of a mesh network. What is compatible to wire up with Ethernet?

My home built firewall (IPCop/Smootwall) finally died and I purchased the new dual band pcWRT from AMZN last night. I’d like to maximize the benefits of the wireless in my house and in my surrounding yard but yet still have access to my Apple AirPort for streaming music play (i have an RCA cord attached to a distributed sound system). Can you recommend a configuration to use both to extend the wireless or put the AirPort on the same network?

the devices are ipads, iphones and apple tv – how do i confirm that they can take advantage of the 5GHz band? Also can I still stream music to the airport because i use the rca jack connection to a receiver that distributes audio through the house. Can the airport be on the same network as the dual band gigabit router? please send me a link to what i should be purchasing. thanks.

my other issue is i need to improve our homes streaming throughput. it seems when my daughters are streaming video simultaneously it jams up our wireless? should i be using the dual band and the airport as a repeater and have them all connect on the same SSID. am i losing anything by using the pcwrt just as a router?

Can u point me towards the logging capabilities -where are they stored, format and does it break it down per device?

i’m looking at cleanrouter vs. pcWRT and i would like to purchase something soon. when can we expect a new device? i would like to connect to my existing airport express b/c we stream music through it in our home. please advise.
