I had to factory reset due to a problem and cannot log into the router any longer.

First, why I had to reset – as that may be a separate issue: I was having issues with specific devices (specifically all of the kids school laptops) suddenly not being able to access sites that they previously had been able to, and need to. This may have been directly after the firmware update on October 28th, but I can’t say for certain. I tried to troubleshooting by moving their laptops to other profiles, then removing them from any profile, then removing all security measures in the settings. Nothing worked, even when other devices on the same profiles worked fine. I was thinking maybe the way traffic is routed on their computers by their schools played a part – don’t know?!

So, because they need to do school, I reset the router to defaults to see if that fixed the problem. Viola, everything works after reset! However, I cannot log into router at all to do any setup again, or setup the wifi at all either. The default IP of 192.168.10.1 brings up the login screen but when I go through all the settings it just brings me back to the original screen with a message that says “Oops! Status: undefined, message: undefined” I’ve tried from multiple computers, I’m rebooted the router, modem, all switches, computers. What is going on here? Any suggestions?

I apologize for the long post here, and for posting a couple issues. I thought I posted already but I’m not seeing my post here now – so if my post is elsewhere I apologize for that as well!

After reset, you’ll need to start from the initial setup screens again. Did you do that? I’m a bit confused ’cause the title says you can’t log in, while in the message you said “go through all the settings”. On which screen did you get the error?

I apologize for the confusion – I was interrupted many times with upset people trying to get this typed up. I got to the startup screen, then went through the process of creating “Router Password”, “Timezone”, “Wifi SSID & Password”, and finally “Email”. When I click next after the last section, “Email”, it just goes back to the first startup screen and has a pop up with that message. I can click “OK” and try again, but it just does the same thing when I click the last “Next”.

That is, the login screen never comes up, just the startup page. Which gives me the error when complete, and won’t bring up the actual login.

@artrickwo Can you send a screenshot of the error to [email protected]?

Well, I feel like I’ve wasted your time, and my apologies for that – I originally tried 3 different web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) – however after digging out the classic IE, I was able to get past the startup screens, and can no login on other browsers. I wish I’d gone back to IE for a try before messaging you. If the reason for the reset to defaults pops up again, I’ll have to come back to troubleshoot it. Thank you.

I just got my router (new) in the mail and i am trying to set it up and have the exact same issue as described above. I tried my phone browser, IE and Chrome. It keeps cycling through the “new setup” process and won’t actually let me login

@gnikodem Try HTTPS instead of HTTP, i.e., https://192.168.10.1.
