I have an approximately 2 year old pcWRT Newifi-D2 router. Recently, with 2.4GHZ WIFI enabled, there is a audible clicking noise coming from the router. With 2.4GHZ WIFI disabled, the clicking stops. The clicking only stops if WIFI is disabled. BTW, the 5GHZ WIFI is also off. With the WAN ethernet cable disconnected, the clicking remains.

It’s obviously an internal component making the noise. There is no diminished operation of the router, it seems to be working ok.

Have you heard of this before? Any thoughts on the noise source or reason for the clicking noise?

    Thank you!

@moonrace How loud is the noise? A very faint noise is normal and should not affect performance.
