I am setting up an Xbox one. I want it to be able to play online games with others but have no other internet. I tried to use a white list with Xbox live.com but then it could not play with others. I guessing I need to whitelist more addresses but not sure what I need to add.
When you run the Xbox network test, what does it say?
When I have the parental controls on it says closed NAT. When I turn then off then it says open.
Did you disable the “block literal IP addresses” and “block proxy,VPN, TOR” options?
Yes. It works when I turn off the white list and does not work when I use the whitelist.
That’s right, the white list option does not help in this scenario.
So when you enable parental control, with “block literal IP addresses” and “block proxy,VPN, TOR” off, you can play in solo mode but not with others. In this scenario, when you run the Xbox network test, it reports “closed NAT”.
When you turn off parental control, you can play with others. In this scenario, when you run the Xbox network test, it reports “open NAT”.
Is the above accurate?
BTW, you might want to try enabling UPnP and see if that helps. Thanks!
Not quite. I was unclear. The Xbox has its own profile. The “block literal IP addresses” and “block proxy,VPN, TOR” are not checked. UPnP is on. Xbox is in low powered mode. Everything works fine. Then if I add the whitelist with “Xboxlive.com” then no shared game play. I want no web surfing at all but I do want shared game play. I am thinking that I need to add to the whitelist but not sure what I need to add. Sorry for the confusion. I hope that is clear.
Did you mean you switched the URL filtering mode to White List? If so, you do need to list all Xbox domains and IP addresses in the allowed URLs list.
I’ll update this thread when I get the IP addresses tomorrow. Thanks!
@Magicdancingblade You can try adding these to the allowed urls (one per line):
xboxlive.com
65.55.42.20
65.55.42.21
I tried that and it still did not work.
I may need to open 65.55.42.1 to 65.55.42.255.

I needed all of the above IP addresses and “Xboxlive.com.”. It now works great. You have a great product and even better support. What other company would go though this much effort for one customer? Thank you so much.
We made this easier in v1.22.2. Now you can white list the whole collection of IP addresses with 65.55.42.0/24, instead of listing each IP address individually.
Hello,
I am having the same problem. My son can use the xbox for solo play when the filter is set to blacklist. My problem is that he cannot play xbox live with other friends when the filter with any settings (filter set to blacklist or whitelist). Parental controls are set to “on” in both scenarios.
The Xbox is set as it’s own profile- is the filter supposed to be set to whitelist to enable playing xbox with friends? The “block literal IP addresses” and “block proxy,VPN, TOR” are not checked. UPnP is on.
In the Whitelist filter setting I have added all of the 255 IP address listed in the above thread along with 65.55.42.0/24
Can you help with settings to enable playing xbox with friends?
@tbone67 This configuration should work:
You can do a network test on the Xbox, and it should report “Open NAT” (or, should finish without warnings about NAT).
If the pcWRT router is behind another router, for example, AT&T U-vers, then you need to put the pcWRT in the DMZ of the U-vers router.
