Big Bug in Parental Control

  I have a a big problem with the parental control. There’s a bug when you enable and disable it.

  Everytime i disable the parental control and, after 1 or 2 minutes, i enable it again , internet doesn’t work.

  The unique way is to disable it and enabled it another time.

  Sometimes internet works but it gives me errors like this:

  

  or are not showed images:

  

  The last time the unique way for to surf on internet has been reboot the router.

  Please, fix this problem, thanks.

  @casino The problems you are seeing may be caused by DNS caching in your browser. You can try closing the browser, wait for a few seconds, then restart the browser.

  Always done, but nothing. I clear the DNS cache through “cmd” too, but nothing.

  @casino Since you are the first one reporting this problem, please provide more details so that we can recreate it.

  For example, what steps did you take? Did you disable parental control at the router level? What websites were you trying to access and were blocked? What were the settings for the profile to which your device belong? Or does it block devices in all profiles?

  I often enable and disable parental control for to test the router. When i enable TOR, VPN and Literal IP addresses block and then disable them, many times i have this problem. And i must to do the reboot.

  I disable parental control only for the home pc profile, not at router level.

  Sometimes i can’t surf in internet, other times there are sites like “pcwrt.com” that doesn’t work and other times can’t load images like the screenshot example that i’ve posted above.

  Today, the same problem. I had to phisically remove the power supply, and reinsert the plug. Not just the reboot.

  I have always the same problem “pcwrt.com:443”. Always this port “443”.

  I tried to clear cookies, cache, the whole internet browsing, cache dns, NOTHING.

  Please resolve this bug. When i check “TOR and Literal IP”, very often i have this problem.

  This bug is really BIG.

  Today, another time: Can’t load images and sites.

  I have this problem when i enable TOR, VPN, Proxy and Literal IP Block. Look:

  “http://secure.gravatar.com:443” or “http://1.citynews-pisatoday.stgy.ovh/~media/original-hi/1432608575698/soffitto-e-lampadario-duomo-pisa-restauro.jpg” blocked today, for example.

  I restarted the browser and the icon in “pcwrt.com” were visible again but the sites don’t. This cycle is infinite

  @casino Sorry we weren’t able to reproduce your problem. What operating system are you using, and what is the command you use to clear the DNS cache?

  i have this problem only on my home pc. I use Windows XP SP3 and for to clear the DNS i use this command: “ipconfig /flushdns”.

  Maybe ths OS is too old for your router? My Chrome version can’t be updated anymore, it’s more than 1 year old.

  My Chrome version is “49.0.2623.112”.

  Ok, we got hold of a Windows XP box with Chrome version same as yours. We managed to repeat your error once. But the error went away immediately after we cleared the DNS cache with “ipconfig /flushdns“. We tried to repeat the error for a second time but were not able to.

  One thing we noticed was that after we cleared the DNS cache, Windows XP was no longer caching DNS answers. That helps explain why we weren’t able to repeat the error. And it seems to indicate that Windows XP DNS caching is somewhat unpredictable.

  After you do “iptables /flushdns“, can you do “iptables /displaydns” to see if the DNS cache was really cleared?

  Also, if this happens again, can you reboot the PC instead the router and see if the problem goes away?

  Thanks, infact, the dns after the command: ipconfig /flusdns” ain’t cleared! Infact i can see into the command “ipconfig /displaydns” the sites that i’ve surfed. Incredible!

  Sometimes, when i reboot the pc the things works, sometimes don’t.

  It is possible to resolve this problem? Can you fix this router bug under windows xp?

  I’ve tried these things:

  1) Stop and Restart the “CLient DNS” services.

  2) ipconfig /flushdns
  net stop dnscache
  net start dnscache

  3) Reboot the computer.

  Nothing. This DNS cache is indelible!

  EDIT:

  It’s all right. The DNS cache show me the sites that i’ve put on the host file in windows some time ago, but this don’t resolve the the pcwrt bug under windows xp.

  @Casino Please understand that this is not a pcWRT bug. We used the same OS and same browser version as yours and cannot reproduce the problem. It’s a problem specific to your PC. And that explains why no one else was complaining.

  Can you remove your hosts entries on the PC and see if the problem goes away?
