In reference to the talk of Skype not working, I too was experiencing this. The suggested fix, turning off “Block proxy, VPN, TOR”, worked to fix that. However, I wonder whether it would be reasonable to make a request that these options are divided into separate check-boxes?

While I do want my household to have access to Skype, I don’t want them to have access to proxies… Is this a feasible request? Or is there at least a good (simple) work around to achieve this?

    Success! Thanks Guys.
A calendar allowing connectivitycheck.gstatic.com is now keeping Android happy while the gstatic.com is blocked.
Also, I’ll continue to chase a 100% block of Google Images and update this if I stumble upon anything 🙂 however unlikely it may be 😉

Hmm, this just in. It seems the Android OS (or at the very least Nexus 5X Android 7.0) uses gstatic to check the availability of internet on Wifi networks. Phones on the network are now diagnosing Wifi as ‘Connected, No Internet’ and reverting to mobile/cell data.

Thoughts? Is there any way to target a more specific part of the gstatic site?

I’ve observed forums mentioning the URL responsible for WiFi check is connectivitycheck.gstatic.com but I have not been able to confirm this in my checks (that is; adding connectivitycheck.gstatic.com to pcWRTs ‘Allowed URLs’)

@support Thanks! This is working, to an extent. I can now see the semi successful result seems to be well publicised in OpenDNS forums also, thanks entirely to your hint.

I would be interested to know though, (and for the sake of fully exploring this topic thread…)
Are you aware of any further steps to eliminate the first handful of results that sneak through?
AND perhaps even those that are displayed after the broken thumbnails are clicked?

    Thanks for your Support!!

Hey, just found this topic after having a similar streaming experience.
I LOVE the router capabilities but not so much the throughput…

Normally my streaming devices just vary quality in order to provide seamless service but I’ve been stuck waiting for buffering lately (since the switch to PCWRT) on most, if not all, streamed video content.

Just wondering though, I found the “TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750 pcWRT” on Amazon with a reference to PCWRT, is this a new model? How does the performance compare? Very intrigued.

I’m hoping it is actually yours (PCWRT) as I can’t actually find it on your website…

Hmmm… toggling the literal IP option still seems to block and unblock Netflix for me, I am using Australian Netflix though.
(AU Netflix is sadly significantly different from US despite the fact it is still Netflix, perhaps they are slow in implementing the new US Netflix method?)

    Any thoughts on this?

I’d love to try the “doable, but will require more effort” method if you think it could be worth trying?

Any further clues or links on the “doable, but will require more effort” method of blocking literal IPs AND still accessing Netflix?
