@casino The thumbnails will continue to show unless you block gstatic.com or its subdomains. But if you block, no thumbnails will display in your search results.

@nman4ever The bug is fixed in v1.27.1.

You may need to reconfigure Cloud Settings in order to be able to manage the router from the Internet again.

@casino The thumbnails come from Google, even for Pinterest images. The Google domain name is something like encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com for thumbnails in search results. You can only rely on Google safe search to filter out offensive images.

@casino You’ll lose connection to the router when the router reboots. Normally, your PC will automatically reconnect to the router when the router finishes rebooting. And your browser will go back to the log in page after that.

If your PC does not automatically reconnect, then you need to manually reconnect. And, if after reconnecting to the router the browser page does not refresh, you can refresh the page manually (usually, press F5 with browser active).

Basically, if you are able to reconnect to the router after you initiate restore backup, it already finished restoring.

@nman4ever Do you see this error on other pages besides System?

@nman4ever It looks JavaScript failed on the page. That’s why I asked you to clear browser cache. And if that’s the case, you’d have trouble in other pages too, such as saving parental control settings.

With either Firefox or Chrome, you can hit F12 to bring up the “Developer Tools” dialog. Click the Console tab. Do you see any errors there?

@nman4ever You might want to clear your browser cache and try again.

@casino You don’t need to reboot the router. The router will reboot itself.

During restoration, the router will shutdown network (wired and WiFi) and reboot, you’ll lose connection to the router. If you can reconnect back to the router, it would have finished rebooting. And you can log in to check your changes.

Usually the browser will go back to the Login screen after you reconnect to the router. If it doesn’t, just enter the router management URL into the address bar and hit Return.

    1) Vimeo provides this option in user settings. However, the sites runs HTTPS only, so there’s no way for the router to intercept and force the option unless we break the HTTPS encryption. But breaking HTTPS encryption weakens your browser’s security. So we are not doing that. YouTube, on the other hand, offers Restricted Mode via DNS. That’s what we are using.

    2) There’s no way to enforce safe search on Facebook, unless Facebook offers a safe search option. Again, the safe search option can be utilized on the router only if they provide a DNS option like Google does.

    You can try this configuration:

    1. Connect your devices like this: Modem -> pcWRT -> Orbi. I.e., connect Modem to pcWRT WAN port, then connect from a pcWRT LAN port to Orbi WAN port.
    2. Configure the Orbi as an Access Point (AP).
    3. Turn off WiFi on the pcWRT.

You’ll use WiFi from the Orbi only and your devices will appear as wired connections to the pcWRT.

For more info on how to run the Orbi as AP:

@erini Please reset the router and do initial setup.

After initial setup, restore settings from the System page – make sure to restore access control only. Adjust other settings manually (e.g., dynamic DNS, port forwardings, etc).

    Finally, save a new backup.
