@gangwang Thank you so much for the suggestion! We’ll look into this.

Thanks for the info. You probably need to set up port forwarding. Take a look at the Status page first. Do you see the DirecTV receiver and the GenieGO in the “Connected Devices” section? If not, click the “refresh” icon to the right of the “Connected Devices” label.

If you see the devices and the hostnames are displayed in gray, click on the hostname and then click Save in the popup. The hostnames should turn blue after you do that.

Go to the Network Settings page. In the Port Forwards section, click Add. Repeat these steps for ports 8082, 8083 & 1701:
    1. In the Name field enter GenieGo 8082
    2. In the Protocol dropdown, pick tcp.
    3. External port: enter 8082
    4. Internal Address: pick the GenieGO device
    5. Internal port: enter 8082
    6. Click OK to dismiss the dialog.

Click Save to save the port forwarding settings.

@gangwang When you have no Internet, can you log on the pcWRT console? Does the Status page show Internet up or down?

Also, do you have a need to run two WiFi signals? If not, it is advisable to turn off the AT&T WiFi, because two WiFi signals might cause RF interference and degrade network performance. If you do need two WiFi signals, check that the channels don’t overlap (4 channels apart is a safe bet).

@zoonooz Can you let us know who’s your ISP and how the GenieGo, DVR, laptop are connected? BTW, the pcWRT router does not block any ports.

So, if you enable parental control for the router, create a profile with parental control off, then put the laptop in that profile, it works. But as soon as you enable parental control for that profile, with all other options (safe search, block VPN etc.) off, and with no calendars created, you cannot see any web sites. Right? What’s displayed in the web page?

Also, do you know what Barracuda technology it’s using? I guess there’s a Barracuda Web Security Agent (WSA) installed on the laptop. Is it using the Web Security Gateway or Web Security Service?

Yes, the Archer C7 pcWRT is ours. However, the 300Mbps TORONTO-N should be adequate for streaming in general. Are you experiencing buffering with WiFi? Is there any difference when you connect via wire? If you have problems with both, you might want to see if there’s any difference with parental control disabled.

Guys, thanks for the feedback! Xbox is broken for now. We’ll fix this and create a new update in the next few days. Sorry, there’s no “rollback” function right now. Maybe we should add that.

@Sulde Guest network is available since version 1.21. If your version is earlier than 1.20, you need to manually upgrade to v1.20 first. See instructions here: pcWRT firmware v1.20 for TORONTO-N is available for download.

After you upgraded to v1.20, go to the System Settings page, click on “Check for Updates”. You might need to reload the System Settings page (or clean the browser cache) in order for this to work properly.

@erikrini Currently the router uses ping to check if a device is connected. Xbox does not answer ping, therefore, it’s not listed in the Connected Devices section. This will be fixed in an upcoming update.

In the meanwhile, you can use the Network Settings page to name the Xbox 360. In the “Hostnames and Static Leases” section, click the Add button. In the popup dialog, connected devices should appear under the Name dropdown. You can either identify the Xbox by name or IP address.

Once you identified the device, save the name by clicking OK in the popup dialog. Then click Save at the bottom of the Network Settings page. After that, you can manage the Xbox in the parental control page.

@Dan As it turned out, Netflix no longer request video streams by literal IP addresses. So blocking literal IP addresses will no longer block Netflix. And, if you want to set up a calendar for Netflix, take a look at this: How to set a calendar on Netflix.
