Looks like in this case you need to use DHCP on the pcWRT. This post says that you need to bridge all interfaces on your modem:

@nojeffries You probably have “Block Literal IP address” and/or “Block Proxy/VPM” checked on the profile. Turn those off and Google Meet will work.

@casino You are right. Both Firefox and Chrome support DNS Over HTTPS (DOH). Here are the links for more info:

Noticeably both browsers have some detection mechanism for managed networks, and will disable DOH when DNS filtering is detected.

The pcWRT router has built-in defense against DNS bypassing techniques. Blocking will remain effective even with DOH enabled.

@bigbluesky5151 If the only requirement is to manage the pcWRT router from the ER4 side, the easiest way is to set up port forwarding on the pcWRT for TCP port 80 and/or 443 (to the router itself). This is a security risk when the pcWRT is on the edge. But since you have the ER4 on the edge, this is not a problem.

Since the ER4 subnet sits on the WAN side of the pcWRT, you won’t be able to access the LAN side of the pcWRT even with static routing. Both NATting and the firewall prohibit direct access. The pcWRT firmware is built on the assumption that it functions as a router with NATting & firewall enabled (i.e., with the WAN side exposed to the Internet). Turning off NATting or firewall will bring unexpected behavior.

If you need to access the LAN side network of the pcWRT from the WAN side, the best solution would be to set up a VPN server on the pcWRT.

@Sarah_Sobek To make sure that I understand your setup correctly, you connected the pcWRT WAN to a LAN port on your main router, and want to connect your WiFi extender to the pcWRT via WiFi connection?

@casino What I meant is the named domains should not be blocked even when “Block Proxy/VPN” is checked. What you showed in the screenshot was probably temporary (i.e., you won’t see the facebook.com domains consistently blocked).

With “Block VPN/Proxy” & “Block Literal IP” checked, Whatsapp can’t deliver messages because it’s literally connecting directly to IP addresses. You need to white list each IP address Whatsapp is using. But that can take a lot of time.

For your own devices, it is better that you create a separate profile and turn off blocking for VPN/Proxy & Literal IP address.
