We made this easier in v1.22.2. Now you can white list the whole collection of IP addresses with 65.55.42.0/24, instead of listing each IP address individually.
@CaptainDad These are available in version v1.22.2, released yesterday and today:
These will be delivered in future updates (in order of priority):
An additional note: beginning with v1.22.2, passwords stored in configuration backup archives will be encrypted. As a result, if you upgrade to v1.22.2 but then rollback to v1.21.5, you have to reconfigure Dynamic DNS (if you are using it).
When you did the initial setup, you should have created two passwords: one for connecting to the WiFi, one for logging into the management console. Please make sure that you are using the password for logging in the console.
If you are using the right password but still cannot login, you can reset the router:
1. With the router fully powered on, use a pin or pen tip to press down the reset button (next to the power connector). Hold it for 10 seconds then let go.
2. Wait for a few seconds, all LED lights will flash once and the router will reboot.
3. After the router is fully powered on, connect to it and do the initial setup again.
Do not disconnect power during the above process.
Usually you don’t need to whitelist a site unless it’s blocked by OpenDNS or you are using whitelist mode. You may put the relevant sites on calendars to set available times. Since google play music is an App, you may want to try adding googleapis.com to the list of domains.
Currently there’s no sure way to see which sites need to be added. We are adding reporting functionality in an upcoming update so that you can see which sites are being blocked.
@szatkowskifamily Before trying to put Netflix on a calendar, let’s make sure that you can watch Netflix with parental control enabled.
I gather that your main TV is in a dedicated profile of its own, with parental control disabled for that profile. Is that correct? And what happens when you try to watch Netflix on the main TV? Can you see the program listings?
Thank you so much for digging into this! We’ll incorporate the change into our codebase. The next update is coming in a few days!
Thanks for your input. We should be able to fix this with the next update coming up in a few days.
Can you disable parental control at the router level and try it again? You can reenable parental control after Dynamic DNS is set up.
Great idea. Well see what we can do so that this type of information could be shared. Thanks!
The router will control the Samsung Smart TV as it would do to any other digital device, such as a PC etc. You can block access to websites you choose, set schedules for online access, etc.
Maybe you have a specific need in mind? If so, please let us know, so that we can give you a better idea of what it can and cannot do.
Great suggestions. We should be able to accommodate these in upcoming releases.
BTW, the hosts in the Network and Parental Control screens are ordered alphabetically by the host name. Are your lists ordered differently?
If I understand it correctly, you want to block some categories for the phone from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, but want to drop the restrictions outside the time range.
The only way to do that right now is to assign the phone to the restricted profile at 6:00pm, and delete it from the restricted profile at 9:00pm. We are thinking about some design changes that will make this possible without human intervention, but you have to do this manually right now.
If it is possible to whitelist the sites you want accessible outside the 6:00pm-9:00pm block, then you can set up two calendars to achieve that:
1. In the restricted profile, add all domains (that are blocked by OpenDNS) you want access to outside the 6:00pm-9:00pm time range to the allowed URL list.
2. Add a calendar for the time range 6:00pm-9:00pm, with no domains listed.
3. Add a second calendar with two time ranges: 12:00am-6:00pm and 9:00pm-12:00am, list all domains you whitelisted in step 1.
Let us know if you run into any problems.
