@rpow There are no minimum speed requirements to connect the router. The maximum WAN speed (Internet side) it can handle is 1Gbps.

You need to set up remote control on the local interface before you can manage the router remotely on the website. Please refer to: https://www.pcwrt.com/forums/topic/how-to-remote-control-the-pcwrt-router/

In the Internet Settings page, protocol should be DHCP, not PPPoE, i.e., no need to enter Xfinity username/password. Please try:

    1. On the System Settings page, click “Sync Time with Browser”.
    2. On the Internet Settings page, select “DHCP client” for protocol.
    2. Wipe out “Override MAC address”. This will restore the MAC address to the default.
    3. Click the Save button at the bottom of the Internet Settings page.

Wait for 5 minutes and check the Status page again.

If the Internet status is still down and you want to try overriding the MAC address, take the MAC address of the computer you connected to the modem previously and put it in the “Override MAC address” box.

    1. Is the Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port? I.e., the port next to the RESET/WPS button.
    2. When you connect your computer directly to the modem, do you need to enter your Xfinity username/password?

@BoorishBird When you turn on Safe Search, the router will force safe search on Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yandex. Other search engines, which can’t force safe search at the network level, are blocked. The next firmware update will allow you to white list the search engines that are implicitly blocked.

For the block/allow lists, the entries are separated by a new line. More info here: https://www.pcwrt.com/2020/01/how-to-allow-or-block-web-sites-on-the-router/

@BoorishBird search.brave.com is implicitly blocked when you enable Safe Search. As it stands today, white listing the domain does not remove the block. You can turn off Safe Search to allow the domain.

We’ll add the functionality to remove the block via white listing in the next firmware update.

Please leave the interface on Auto Negotiate.

Did you test the WAN port too? Did it display 1Gbps? Your computer won’t get an IP address when directly connected to the WAN port, but it will display the link speed nonetheless.

Please also run this test: connect your old router to the modem, then connect the XR10 WAN to a LAN port on your old router. Connect your computer to the XR10 and run a speed test.

Also, what’s the model of your modem?

Can you connect to each of the Ethernet ports on the router and check the link speed?

If you are using a Windows PC, connect an Ethernet cable from the PC to the router, then check the link speed in the “Network Connections” dialog.

    @celloitalia What’s your ISP? AT&T fiber?

Internet (ISP) must be connected to the port closest to the RESET button (looking at the back of the router, the fourth port counting from left to right). The other three ports are LAN ports. Is that how you connected the router?

It should do better than that without any settings change. As a comparison, can you test your speed through a wired connection when wireless connection is slow?

@casino When you open the Wireless Settings page, you’ll see two tabs, one for 2.4GHz, one for 5GHz. By default, the 2.4GHz SSID is pcwrt and the 5GHz SSID is pcwrt-5g. You can change the SSID on the 5GHz band to pcwrt, for example. Then both bands will have the same SSID.

Since both bands are broadcasting the same SSID, your device will decide which band to connect to when you connect.

The router broadcasts two WiFi signals, one for the 2.4GHz band, one for the 5.0GHz band. Your device can connect to either one, and you can connect to the 5G sometimes (for example, when you are near the router), 2G other times (for example, when you are further away from the router and the 5G signal is weak).

The router is configured to have different SSIDs for the two bands, so that you can choose which band to connect to. Alternatively, you can give the same SSID to both bands on the router. In that case, your will see only one SSID and your device will choose which band to connect to.
