Please take a look at this post: http://www.pcwrt.com/forums/topic/how-to-remote-control-the-pcwrt-router/.
As described at the end of the post, you may need to set up port forwarding on your main router, if the pcWRT router doesn’t have a public IP address.
Please try resetting the pcWRT. The procedure below will wipe out all custom settings and restore factory default:
1. With the pcWRT router powered up, use a pin or pen tip to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Then let go.
2. Wait for a few seconds. All lights on the router will blink once, and the router will reboot.
3. After the router comes up, you need to do the initial setup again. Internet should be restored after the initial setup.
Do not disconnect power during the process.
Let us know if that works. If you still have trouble, send email to [email protected].
Let’s try this:
1. Reboot the Arris.
2. After the Arris comes back on, reboot the pcWRT.
How is the router connected to the internet? Directly to a modem, or through another router or modem/router combo?
Also, can you check the settings on the Internet page? What does the page show?
@nealonious On Status page, Internet should be up, with a valid IP address. On the router, is the WAN light on?
Currently our product does not do throttling. However, we do add features upon user requests. Throttling isn’t in the time table since you are the first one asking about it.
Please check out this blog post for a side-by-side comparison with Skydog: http://www.pcwrt.com/2015/04/is-pcwrt-a-skydog-router-alternative/
We made this easier in v1.22.2. Now you can white list the whole collection of IP addresses with 65.55.42.0/24, instead of listing each IP address individually.
@CaptainDad These are available in version v1.22.2, released yesterday and today:
These will be delivered in future updates (in order of priority):
An additional note: beginning with v1.22.2, passwords stored in configuration backup archives will be encrypted. As a result, if you upgrade to v1.22.2 but then rollback to v1.21.5, you have to reconfigure Dynamic DNS (if you are using it).
When you did the initial setup, you should have created two passwords: one for connecting to the WiFi, one for logging into the management console. Please make sure that you are using the password for logging in the console.
If you are using the right password but still cannot login, you can reset the router:
1. With the router fully powered on, use a pin or pen tip to press down the reset button (next to the power connector). Hold it for 10 seconds then let go.
2. Wait for a few seconds, all LED lights will flash once and the router will reboot.
3. After the router is fully powered on, connect to it and do the initial setup again.
Do not disconnect power during the above process.
Usually you don’t need to whitelist a site unless it’s blocked by OpenDNS or you are using whitelist mode. You may put the relevant sites on calendars to set available times. Since google play music is an App, you may want to try adding googleapis.com to the list of domains.
Currently there’s no sure way to see which sites need to be added. We are adding reporting functionality in an upcoming update so that you can see which sites are being blocked.
@szatkowskifamily Before trying to put Netflix on a calendar, let’s make sure that you can watch Netflix with parental control enabled.
I gather that your main TV is in a dedicated profile of its own, with parental control disabled for that profile. Is that correct? And what happens when you try to watch Netflix on the main TV? Can you see the program listings?
